The EX-440 Aluminium Tripod with 3-Way Pan and Tilt Head from Velbon is a 1.18kg aluminium support, which has a load capacity of 2kg. The head itself has friction control, which adds or decreases drag on the 360° rotation and also for the back-and-forth tilt. At a normal stance, the tripod has a height of 126.7cm but extending the leg’s 4-sections and geared centre column, the tripod can reach a maximum height of 153cm. With the legs fully splayed out, the centre brace locks into place and provides extra stability to the legs. To transport the tripod, it folds down to 47cm, and the support includes the QB-46 quick release plate.

Camera Plate
On EX 430 and higher model, the camera plate turns to the right instead of left. This leaves your left hand free to adjust the tripod and camera controls while taking images in portrait mode. Importantly when using telephoto lenses, the camera remains securely attached to the plate due to the effect of gravity tightening the screw connection.
